Samuel Stevenson & Sons were appointed as Lead Architect and Project Manager to deliver Ardnashee School & College, a special school catering for children from 3 to 19 years of age. 

The school provides educational facilities to meet the curricular needs of 275 pupils with Profound, Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties. This is now one the largest special needs schools in Northern Ireland.

The building encapsulates specialist classrooms, hydrotherapy pool, therapy zones, multi–purpose and dining hall as well  sports facilities. 

The building form has been designed around two identifiable wings providing accommodation for pupil classrooms and specialist subjects. The ‘connecting’ space between the wings accommodates social spaces, therapy and staff accommodation.

The building incorporates a series of external courtyards to maximise daylight deep into the building and provide opportunities for outdoor learning, recreation and social experiences.
